VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) -- Police say a Vancouver woman threw acid in her own face, then lied to investigators, saying a woman she did not know was responsible.
Vancouver Police Chief Clifford Cook said Thursday that Bethany Storro admitted to fabricating a story about the attack in which she suffered severe burns.
Cook says he does not know a motive for Storro's actions.
Cook says discrepancies began to emerge during the investigation. Storro had said a woman with a ponytail attacked her on Aug. 30.
Cook says Storro is "very remorseful."

Ok now folks I try to keep an open mind & always be positive & not judge people..
But on this one it's extremly difficult to keep quiet.
Don't get me wrong I am well aware there are mental issues here,I mean come on it's obvious, right?
I am upset that she played with my emotions,I actually felt really really bad for her while watching her interviews on TV.
Then to find out she purposely threw acid in her own face is beyond my comprehension.
Seriously at what point do you wake up one morning & decide "hey I need some attention,so I am going to a throw acid in my own face & blame it on some non existent attacker"
The part about this that is really bothersome is these kind of events end up making us question the next person who make be attacked or injured, because in the back of our minds we think "ok do I feel sympathy for this person or is this just another hoax?"
Ms. Storro's issues go way beyond her burns to her face & I hope she seeks help & has a support system.
With that being said, I end this with...
WTF? Did that just happen?
God Bless & Namaste...
Deb
I know what you mean....because of Susan Smith I think we all question the parents now in missing children cases...:(
ReplyDeleteYep, Just like Kyron Horman the little boy missing in Portland Oregon. I am convinced the Step Mother is involved in his disappearance.
ReplyDeleteA news report I saw said she was obsessed with "spreading the word of God" and this was one means by which she was going to do it. Like you said, obvious mental issues. Hopefully she is offered help. Thanks for sharing, Deb.
